This follows the experiment of subjects who were asked to maintain different postures while answering a set of business questionnaire. Those who maintain a good posture had more confidence in their own thinking, while those who had bad posture feel unsure of their own thoughts.

This research only shows that proper posture can do more than just reduce stress on joints and back. It can also trick people’s mind, making them feel superior and more dominant. It can also make feel happy and so sure about their ideas and actions.

Sit Up Straight

If you want to experience the benefit of proper posture, chiropractors suggest changing your daily habits and correcting areas that need improvement. When sitting in an office chair, for instance, never slouch or lean forward. For long periods of sitting, make sure the chair is ergonomically designed to support your back.

Stand Tall

When standing, however, avoid locking the knees and stand with weight on the balls of the feet, not with the weight on your heels. Stand straight with shoulders upright and let your arms naturally hang on the sides of the body. When walking, on the other hand, keep your eyes looking straight ahead and avoid pushing your head forward.

Sleep Right

Sleeping posture matters, too. You may need a relatively firm mattress to support your back and spine. Sleeping on the side or back is usually advisable, as it is more comfortable on the spine than sleeping on the stomach. Placing a flat pillow between legs is also beneficial when sleeping on the side, as it can keep spine straight and aligned.

Get Moving

Slouching and slumping are more common when you’re standing or sitting for extended periods. To avoid extra pressure on the neck and back, get up or change positions every now and then. You may, for example, take a break from sitting in a chair every hour for about two minutes to walk, stand or stretch.
